{"id":924,"date":"2025-10-03T03:22:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T03:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/?p=924"},"modified":"2025-10-06T09:12:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T09:12:24","slug":"munich-airport-closes-briefly-after-drone-sightings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/03\/munich-airport-closes-briefly-after-drone-sightings\/","title":{"rendered":"Munich Airport closes briefly after drone sightings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Germany\u2019s Munich Airport temporarily closed Thursday night after several drone sightings, the airport announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.munich-airport.com\/press-drone-sighting-at-munich-airport-35709068\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-business\/ap-lufthansa-airline-group-to-shed-4000-jobs-by-2030-with-help-of-ai-sees-stronger-profits-ahead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">airport said German air traffic control<\/a> first restricted flight traffic at 10:18 p.m. local time, and then suspended all incoming and departing flights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In total, 17 departing flights could not take off from Munich, while 15 incoming flights were diverted to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna or Frankfurt, the airport added. The airport and airlines provided camp beds, blankets, drinks and snacks to passengers on the departing flights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a drone is sighted, the safety of travelers is the top priority,\u201d airport officials added in the release. \u201cReporting chains between air traffic control, the airport, and police authorities have been established for years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important to emphasize that the detection and defense against drones are sovereign tasks and are the responsibility of the federal and state police.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Munich is located in the southern German state of Bavaria. Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schleswig-holstein.de\/DE\/landesregierung\/ministerien-behoerden\/IV\/Presse\/PI\/2025\/4_Quartal\/251001_Rede_InnenRechtsausschuss?nn=6b94bbe7-220f-41c2-9bec-bad6898d326d\">multiple drones were seen<\/a> over the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein, which borders Denmark.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Several <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-international\/ap-danish-officials-believe-drone-flyovers-at-4-airports-are-meant-to-sow-fear-and-division\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">airports in Denmark<\/a>, including in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Forsvarsmin\/status\/1971209390012367302\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Copenhagen<\/a>, also temporarily closed due to drone sightings last week. The Danish defense ministry said Saturday that drones were spotted over <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/denmark-drones-defense-ministry-sighting-715259308a713a2d1f8c235cf29295b2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some military bases<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-international\/ap-european-leaders-gather-to-discuss-security-and-ukraine-war-following-drone-incidents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Union Summit<\/a> in Copenhagen on Wednesday, Germany, France and Sweden pledged to provide anti-drone capabilities to Denmark, the country\u2019s defense ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmn.dk\/da\/nyheder\/2025\/en-rakke-lande-bidrager-med-antidrone-kapaciteter-til-det-kommende-eu-topmode-i-kobenhavn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the grounds at Theresienwiese \u2014 where Munich\u2019s Oktoberfest celebration is held \u2014 were closed due to a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PolizeiMuenchen\/status\/1973304781113532495\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bomb threat<\/a>.
