{"id":884,"date":"2025-10-03T20:03:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T20:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/?p=884"},"modified":"2025-10-06T08:53:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T08:53:12","slug":"2-families-sue-tesla-over-door-design-after-crash-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/03\/2-families-sue-tesla-over-door-design-after-crash-deaths\/","title":{"rendered":"2 families sue Tesla over door design after crash deaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two separate families\u00a0sued Tesla on Thursday over <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-business\/ap-parents-of-college-student-killed-in-tesla-crash-say-design-flaw-in-door-trapped-her-as-car-burned\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">its door design<\/a>, alleging it prevented their college-aged children from escaping a burning Cybertruck after a crash last November.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The parents of 19-year-old Krysta Tsukahara and 20-year-old Jack Nelson&nbsp;each filed suit against the electric vehicle maker in a California court, arguing that Tesla\u2019s electric door handles became nonfunctional in the crash.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case arises from catastrophic design defects in the Tesla Cybertruck that turned a survivable crash into a fatal fire,\u201d the Nelson family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/26180128-nelson-v-tesla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuit reads<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tsukahara and Nelson were riding in a Cybertruck with 19-year-old Soren Dixon and another passenger in November 2024 when they crashed. Both Tsukahara and Nelson survived the initial crash but died in the fire that erupted afterward. Dixon was also killed, while the fourth passenger survived.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the car\u2019s electronic door handles failed in the crash, rescuers were unable to open the door from the outside.
