Russia targeted Ukraine in a massive drone and missile attack on Sunday, killing at least four people in Kyiv and wounding dozens more days after President Trump said<\/a> Ukraine could win the war against Moscow.<\/p>\n

The overnight attack lasted more than 12 hours and primarily targeted Kyiv and the nearby region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said<\/a> in a post on the social platform X.<\/p>\n

Zelensky said other regions struck included Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Odesa.<\/p>\n

At least four people in Kyiv died, including a 12-year-old girl, and more than 40 people throughout Ukraine are confirmed injured.<\/p>\n

Zelensky said the attack included nearly 500 attack drones and more than 40 missiles.<\/p>\n

Kyiv\u2019s Cardiology Institute was damaged in the attack, according to Zelensky, as were a bread-production facility, a tire-manufacturing plant, private homes and apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure, he said.<\/p>\n

Zelensky noted the timing of Russia\u2019s attack and called for a strong response from allied countries in the West.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis vile attack came virtually as the close of United Nations General Assembly week, and this is exactly how Russia declares its true position,\u201d Zelensky wrote on X. \u201cMoscow wants to keep fighting and killing, and it deserves the toughest pressure from the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to strike back to deprive Russia of those revenue streams and to compel it toward diplomacy,\u201d he added. \u201cEveryone who wants peace must back President Trump\u2019s efforts and halt any Russian imports. The time for decisive action is long overdue, and we count on a strong response from the United States, Europe, the G7, and the G20.\u201d<\/p>\n
