{"id":489,"date":"2025-09-12T18:56:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T18:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/?p=489"},"modified":"2025-09-15T08:52:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T08:52:26","slug":"discord-details-what-it-knows-about-kirk-suspect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/12\/discord-details-what-it-knows-about-kirk-suspect\/","title":{"rendered":"Discord details what it knows about Kirk suspect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Discord said Friday that the person <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5499382-live-updates-trump-charlie-kirk-biden-probe\/\">accused of killing<\/a> conservative activist Charlie Kirk did not use the platform to plan the shooting or promote violence, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/5500763-kirk-shooting-suspect-tyler-robinson-utah\/\">after officials revealed<\/a> he sent messages over the app.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson after a multiday search for Kirk\u2019s killer. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suspect\u2019s roommate shared Discord messages with officials, in which Robinson said he needed to get a rifle from a drop point, and discussed leaving the weapon in a bush and watching the area where it was left wrapped in a towel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply saddened by this tragedy and extend our condolences to the Kirk family and everyone affected,\u201d a Discord spokesperson said in a statement. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the course of our investigation, we identified a Discord account associated with the suspect, but have found no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord,\u201d they continued.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The company said it has removed his account for violating its off-platform behavior policy, which sets rules about harmful activities that occur on other online platforms or in the real world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly condemn violence of any kind, including political violence, and we will continue to coordinate closely with law enforcement,\u201d the spokesperson added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>President Trump revealed Friday morning that <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5500323-kirk-shooting-suspect-custody-trump\/\">a suspect was in custody<\/a>, two days after Kirk was shot and killed during an appearance at Utah Valley University. Authorities said a family friend reported Robinson to local law enforcement after he confessed or \u201cimplied\u201d he had committed the shooting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Discord, a messaging app popular with gamers, has previously found itself at the center of controversy.
