I\u2019m excited to help Zohran build a team that will usher in a new era for New York City and set a new model for Democratic governance,\u201d Khan said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Khan played <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changemakers2024\/5034693-the-hills-changemakers-lina-khan-ftc-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an integral and controversial role<\/a> in former President Biden\u2019s antirust and consumer protection agenda. As FTC chair, she <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/4984240-trump-administration-tech-antitrust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ramped up scrutiny<\/a> of corporate mergers while spearheading administration efforts to defend Americans from unfair business practices, such as \u201cjunk fees\u201d and mandatory arbitration clauses.<\/p>\n<p>While progressives applauded Khan\u2019s efforts to crack down on corporate power, the Biden administration\u2019s aggressive stance toward Big Tech <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4830326-kamala-harris-lina-khan-ftc-tech-companies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also played a role<\/a> in pushing several major Silicon Valley figures toward the right.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur transition leaders will help build a City Hall committed to excellence, integrity and a hunger to solve old problems with new solutions.
