The ground stop was lifted at 1:30 p.m. EDT.<\/p>\n<p>The ground stop came shortly after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Fox News\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/transportation\/5573764-duffy-air-traffic-controllers-are-wearing-thin-as-government-shutdown-hits-day-26\/\">\u201cSunday Morning Futures\u201d<\/a> that air traffic controllers are struggling amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has stretched nearly four weeks.<\/p>\n<p>He warned that travelers should expect more delays this week. On Thursday, Duffy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/transportation\/5569660-transportation-secretary-duffy-flight-delays-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said at a press conference<\/a>\u00a0that he \u201ccan\u2019t guarantee\u201d flights will not be delayed or canceled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe controllers are wearing thin,\u201d\u00a0he said Sunday. \u201cThey\u2019re taking second jobs, they\u2019re out there looking, \u2018Can I drive Uber, can I find another source of income to make ends meet?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy message has been to the controllers, \u2018Show up, that\u2019s your job. Eventually, you\u2019re [going to] be paid.\u2019 But there\u2019s real-life situations that they\u2019re dealing with, with their families,\u201d Duffy said Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>He said 22 air traffic controller staffing triggers occurred at airports across the country Saturday, the highest number to date during the shutdown.
