{"id":1448,"date":"2025-10-30T11:29:35","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T12:29:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/?p=1448"},"modified":"2025-11-03T09:10:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T09:10:47","slug":"trump-xi-didnt-discuss-taiwan-russian-oil-nor-blackwell-chips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltaalenthq.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/30\/trump-xi-didnt-discuss-taiwan-russian-oil-nor-blackwell-chips\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump, Xi didn&#039;t discuss Taiwan, Russian oil nor Blackwell chips"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump said the issues of Taiwan, Russian oil&nbsp;and Nvidia&#8217;s advanced Blackwell chip weren&#8217;t raised&nbsp;during his <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5579438-live-updates-trump-xi-meeting-government-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wide-ranging meeting<\/a> with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea on Thursday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaiwan never came up. It was not discussed actually,\u201d Trump said when asked by reporters on Air Force One.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He noted Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine came up \u201cvery strongly\u201d during the meeting, however.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re both going to work together to see if we can get something done,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe agree that the sides are locked in, fighting, and sometimes you have to let them fight, I guess. Crazy. But he\u2019s going to help us and we\u2019re going to work together on Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about China&#8217;s history of purchasing Russian oil, Trump said, &#8220;we really didn&#8217;t discuss the oil,&#8221; talking instead about trying to end the war.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s been buying oil from Russia for a long time. It takes care of a big part of China,&#8221; Trump told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Many view the war between Russia and Ukraine as parallel to Taiwan\u2019s relationship with China, given tensions over territorial sovereignty between Beijing and Taipei. Xi sees Taiwan as Chinese sovereign territory and has vowed to reunify the two countries, by force if necessary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has maintained unofficial ties with Taiwan.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump did not give a definitive answer over whether Taiwan would be brought up during trade negotiations with China.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know that we\u2019ll even speak about Taiwan. I\u2019m not sure he may want to ask about it,\u201d the president said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another issue that Trump said did not come up with Xi was approving the sale of <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/5578624-nvidia-first-5-trillion-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nvidia&#8217;s Blackwell chips<\/a> to China.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re not talking about the Blackwell.
