Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview that aired Sunday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is \u201cafraid that [the] United States will deliver us Tomahawks.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew about the Tomahawks, it’s very sensitive for Russians,\u201d Zelensky told NBC News\u2019s Kristen Welker on \u201cMeet the Press<\/a>.\u201d \u201cThey’re afraid that [the] United States can deliver Ukraine \u2014 I think that Putin [is] afraid that [the] United States will deliver us Tomahawks.\u201d<\/p>\n During a White House meeting<\/a> with Zelensky on Friday, President Trump said it was not \u201ceasy\u201d for the U.S. to hand over long-range<\/a> Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not easy for us to give \u2026 you\u2019re talking about massive numbers of very powerful weapons,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, that\u2019s one of the things we\u2019ll be talking about hopefully, they won\u2019t need it, hopefully, we\u2019ll be able to get the war over with, without thinking about Tomahawks,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The potential shipment of Tomahawk missiles has become a notable point of discussion recently following Trump’s floating the idea.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you disappointed that President Trump’s answer wasn’t \u2018yes\u2019 on Tomahawks?\u201d Welker asked Zelensky.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course I want, and of course we want. And, of course, we understand how we can use it. And to my mind, it can pressure on Russia and push Putin to negotiations, from my side,\u201d the Ukrainian president responded.<\/p>\n
